1
00:00:00,320 --> 00:00:08,880
Meet Molly Biker and say hello to Molly. Mom.
This side of Molly wants a health plan that's

2
00:00:08,880 --> 00:00:13,520
affordable, like an HMO. This side of
Molly wants a health plan that lets her

3
00:00:13,520 --> 00:00:20,720
see a doctor outside the plan just in case,
so she chose Blue Choice. One side likes the

4
00:00:20,720 --> 00:00:28,480
cost. The other side likes the choice, which
is great considering they share the same need.

5
00:00:30,240 --> 00:00:40,320
These are tonight's winning lottery numbers.

6
00:00:40,320 --> 00:00:47,120
Childwatch, it's about our children, our future.

7
00:00:47,120 --> 00:00:53,280
Tonight, a CBS special movie presentation.

8
00:00:53,280 --> 00:01:02,320
Prepare for an amazing television event. A brand
new journey into a dimension of sight and sound

9
00:01:02,320 --> 00:01:11,600
as CBS presents two never produced, never seen
stories from the master of storytelling. The

10
00:01:11,600 --> 00:01:28,480
world premiere of Rod Serling's Lost
Classics from the Twilight Zone. Next,

11
00:01:28,480 --> 00:01:33,840
you unlock this door with the key of
imagination. Beyond it is another dimension,

12
00:01:33,840 --> 00:01:41,600
a dimension of sound, a dimension of sight, a
dimension of mind. You're moving into a land of

13
00:01:41,600 --> 00:01:48,960
both shadow and substance, of things and ideas.
You've just crossed over into the Twilight Zone.

14
00:01:58,000 --> 00:02:04,080
Good evening and welcome to a very special
two hours of television. Tonight we will see

15
00:02:04,080 --> 00:02:11,200
for the first time two original dramas created
by perhaps television's greatest storyteller,

16
00:02:11,200 --> 00:02:17,680
sixtime Emmy award winner Rod Serling. Beginning
with a short film about a contemporary young

17
00:02:17,680 --> 00:02:25,120
woman whose life unfolds in a most unusual way. We
then travel to post civil war Massachusetts where

18
00:02:25,120 --> 00:02:32,000
Rod Serling's last unproduced screenplay comes to
life. So please sit back and join me as we journey

19
00:02:32,000 --> 00:02:41,920
into a wondrous land whose boundaries are that of
imagination. Your next stop, the Twilight Zone.

20
00:02:44,400 --> 00:02:52,160
Melissa Sanders is having difficulty
completing her city hall commission sculpture.

21
00:02:52,160 --> 00:02:57,920
Her behavior is characteristic. She
delays. She defers. She refuses to

22
00:02:57,920 --> 00:03:02,480
commit to decisions in both her personal
and professional life. She thinks she

23
00:03:02,480 --> 00:03:08,880
has all the time in the world. But she does
not because that world will change forever.

24
00:03:08,880 --> 00:03:20,640
and Melissa Sanders walks through the door of
a certain movie theater into the Twilight Zone.

25
00:03:20,640 --> 00:03:34,400
Yo, Melissa. Hey, how'd it go with Jim?
What? You can't keep me in suspense.

26
00:03:34,400 --> 00:03:42,800
You can't keep me in suspense like that. Pretty
mean, huh? You said yes, huh? You looked at him

27
00:03:42,800 --> 00:03:50,960
over your lunch of a hamburger and fries and
you said yes, Dr. James, I will marry you. Not

28
00:03:50,960 --> 00:04:02,720
exactly. No. Exactly. What did you say? I said no.
Forever? No. No, just for now. A I like things the

29
00:04:02,720 --> 00:04:13,840
way they are. Anyway, I I thought he understood.
Yeah, but he stood me up last night. Oh,

30
00:04:13,840 --> 00:04:26,960
not a call, nothing. Just me all alone with my
takeout dinner for two. Well, there you go. Hello.

31
00:04:26,960 --> 00:04:34,800
Hello. Hello, Mr. Sanders. Yes.
Got something for you. What do

32
00:04:34,800 --> 00:04:42,400
you think it is? It's this. And
there's more. Let's go. You know,

33
00:04:42,400 --> 00:04:50,560
while you do that, I think I'll get
my reading glass. What are you doing?

34
00:04:50,560 --> 00:04:57,920
James is sorry. James is sad. James is a rotten,
lousy cad. James regret he missed your date.

35
00:04:57,920 --> 00:05:03,680
Doctoring kept him up real late. Please say you
forgive and hold all blame. Love and kisses.

36
00:05:05,040 --> 00:05:20,960
Dr. James, tell him I forgive him. But James,
next time call. How'd you know it was me?

37
00:05:20,960 --> 00:05:25,440
When we've been married for 40 years, you're
going to tell our grandchildren that all I

38
00:05:25,440 --> 00:05:29,600
ever did was feed you junk food. They'll think
I'm cheap as all get out. A good hamburger is

39
00:05:29,600 --> 00:05:34,880
not junk food. A lot of people feel that way.
And I'm not marrying you. So you say today,

40
00:05:34,880 --> 00:05:41,840
I'll ask you tomorrow. Don't. You love
me. Just imagine all we're missing while

41
00:05:41,840 --> 00:05:51,200
you procrastinate. Now is the right time for
us. James, what if it's the chase you love?

42
00:05:51,200 --> 00:05:56,240
I'm afraid. Stop being afraid.
When something is right,

43
00:05:56,240 --> 00:06:04,240
go for it. You know this is right. Why
not make the commitment? And if I do,

44
00:06:04,240 --> 00:06:10,560
I'll dance on the rooftops. What happens when
your feet get tired? You remember Dick Van Djk

45
00:06:10,560 --> 00:06:18,640
in Mary Poppins? Come on, you can be married.
God, come on, James. We're going to be late

46
00:06:18,640 --> 00:06:24,480
for what? The film festival.

47
00:06:24,480 --> 00:06:30,240
That's tonight. They're playing his girl
Friday. Oh, come on. We made these plans

48
00:06:30,240 --> 00:06:35,680
2 weeks ago. Listen, I'm on duty tonight.
I can't believe you're just telling me this

49
00:06:35,680 --> 00:06:41,840
now. You always do this to me. Oh, I'm
sorry. I'm sorry. What can I do? Well,

50
00:06:41,840 --> 00:06:53,600
I'm going anyway. Thanks for dinner. I
never stand up Carrie Grant. Excuse me.

51
00:07:01,200 --> 00:07:20,080
You love me. I'm not marrying you. So
you say today, I'll ask you tomorrow.

52
00:07:48,560 --> 00:08:14,400
One, please. Heat.

53
00:08:14,400 --> 00:08:16,800
Heat.

54
00:08:18,480 --> 00:08:25,120
44.

55
00:08:25,120 --> 00:08:28,640
Deny it. I'm proud of it. We beat the
whole country on that story. I suppose

56
00:08:28,640 --> 00:08:33,200
we did. That isn't what I got married
for. Oh, what is the Look, now look,

57
00:08:33,200 --> 00:08:38,160
Wolf, what I came up here to tell you is that
you must stop calling me a dozen times today,

58
00:08:38,160 --> 00:08:42,080
sending me 20 telegrams. I write a beautiful
telegram, don't I? Everybody says so. Are you

59
00:08:42,080 --> 00:08:45,040
going to listen to what I have to say?
Look, look. What's the use of fighting,

60
00:08:45,040 --> 00:08:48,400
Hildy? I'll tell you what you do. You come back
to work on the paper. If we find we can't get

61
00:08:48,400 --> 00:09:00,160
along in a friendly fashion, we'll get married
again. That's me. I have any hard feelings.

62
00:09:00,160 --> 00:09:06,000
James is sorry. James is sad. James is
a rotten lousy cat. James regrets he

63
00:09:06,000 --> 00:09:09,360
missed your date. Doctoring kept him up real late.

64
00:09:09,360 --> 00:09:15,600
Please say you forgive and bold all
blame. Love and kisses. Dr. James.

65
00:09:19,360 --> 00:09:24,400
When we've been married for 40 years, you're going
to tell our grandchildren that all I ever did was

66
00:09:24,400 --> 00:09:29,920
feed you junk food. Okay. I'm cheap as I'll get
out. A good hamburger is not junk food. A lot

67
00:09:29,920 --> 00:09:39,200
of people feel that way and I'm not marrying
you. So you say today, I'll ask you tomorrow.

68
00:09:39,200 --> 00:09:46,720
You love me. Just imagine all we're missing
while you progress now is the right kind. James

69
00:09:46,720 --> 00:09:57,920
is the chase you love. I'm afraid. Stop being
afraid. When something is right, go for it.

70
00:09:57,920 --> 00:10:04,240
You know this is right. Why not
make the commitment? And if I do,

71
00:10:04,240 --> 00:10:07,680
I'll dance on the rooftops. Nothing.
I made a great reporter out of you,

72
00:10:07,680 --> 00:10:13,760
Hilly. It won't be half as good on
any other paper. And you know it

73
00:10:13,760 --> 00:10:31,600
American. Listen, Walter, please. The paper's
going to have to get along without me. So are you.

74
00:10:31,600 --> 00:10:35,600
Excuse me. Where's Dr.

75
00:10:47,120 --> 00:10:54,320
That was extremely clever. Uh, thanks.
She likes the way I bandage. No,

76
00:10:54,320 --> 00:11:00,960
the theater. What you did was very funny.
I still can't figure out how you did it.

77
00:11:02,160 --> 00:11:08,480
What? Did you uh have some voyeristic
friend videotaping us? Melissa,

78
00:11:08,480 --> 00:11:14,320
what are you talking about? And then you paid
off the projectionist at the theater. Maybe

79
00:11:14,320 --> 00:11:18,400
I've been up for too many hours, but this
conversation isn't making any sense to me.

80
00:11:18,400 --> 00:11:28,160
Am I missing something here? Come on, James. It
had to have been you. Cardiac arrest coming in.

81
00:11:28,160 --> 00:11:29,760
I'll talk to you later.

82
00:11:34,880 --> 00:11:45,840
That dude been hit.

83
00:11:45,840 --> 00:11:58,320
Heat. Heat.

84
00:11:58,320 --> 00:12:13,040
Heat. Heat.

85
00:12:31,120 --> 00:12:38,160
Come on over there. One, please.

86
00:12:59,680 --> 00:13:01,920
Yes. And when he's with the
lady, he takes his head off. Oh,

87
00:13:01,920 --> 00:13:07,680
I am sorry. And when he walks with the lady,
he waits for her. Oh, well, in that case,

88
00:13:09,760 --> 00:13:14,000
Allow me.

89
00:13:14,000 --> 00:13:17,920
Well, I can see right away my wife picked out
the right husband for herself. How do you do,

90
00:13:17,920 --> 00:13:22,800
sir? Must be some mistake. I'm
already married. Oh, Hilly,

91
00:13:22,800 --> 00:13:27,440
you should have told Mr. Congratulations again,
Mr. Baldwin. Oh, no. My name is Oh, excuse me,

92
00:13:27,440 --> 00:13:30,720
Willie. I'm terribly busy. Just leave your
card with the boy. What did you say, Mr. Mr.

93
00:13:30,720 --> 00:13:35,120
My name is Mr. Burns? Some other time. I'm busy
with Mr. Bruce Baldwin here. I didn't hear what

94
00:13:35,120 --> 00:13:40,880
you said. I was going to say it is my nation. Now
look, what is it with you? Can't you see the Oh,

95
00:13:40,880 --> 00:13:48,720
you're uh gee, thanks. Like the way I No,
the theater. That was very funny what you

96
00:13:48,720 --> 00:13:57,840
did. I still can't understand how you
did it. What did you have some video?

97
00:13:57,840 --> 00:14:02,640
What are you talking?

98
00:14:02,640 --> 00:14:12,320
And then excuse me. What are you seeing? What?
Do you see me up there? Well, a man ought to be

99
00:14:12,320 --> 00:14:16,800
prepared for any emergency. Well, Walter, I think
we better be running alone. Maybe I've been up

100
00:14:16,800 --> 00:14:28,960
for too many hours, but this conversation isn't
making any sense to me. Am I missing something?

101
00:14:28,960 --> 00:14:45,120
Heat.

102
00:14:45,120 --> 00:14:51,920
Heat.

103
00:15:04,240 --> 00:15:10,960
You're not going to get away with it.
What do you see up there? Huh? Do you

104
00:15:10,960 --> 00:15:16,800
see me outside the theater? No. I hope not.
It's not what we paid for. Well, Walker,

105
00:15:16,800 --> 00:15:20,320
I think we better be running along. Yes,
we better be going. Where are we going? I

106
00:15:20,320 --> 00:15:23,440
think she's through the lunch. Did you
tell him, Hilly? No, she didn't. Well,

107
00:15:23,440 --> 00:15:45,280
I guess she just wanted to surprise
you, Bruce. After you. After you, Hilly.

108
00:16:01,120 --> 00:16:09,920
You're not going to get away with it.

109
00:16:37,360 --> 00:16:56,560
Heat.

110
00:16:56,560 --> 00:17:01,840
Heat.

111
00:17:08,400 --> 00:17:18,320
Oh my god, it stopped.

112
00:17:18,320 --> 00:17:26,880
You're not going to get away with it.

113
00:17:38,320 --> 00:17:43,600

116
00:17:57,840 --> 00:18:02,720

shirt. Great beer. Can your beer do this?

123
00:18:42,400 --> 00:18:47,680
It's been our observation that people don't
necessarily like the idea of getting older.

124
00:18:47,680 --> 00:19:00,480
It's a gut begone. Roy just loves his. In which
case, we have a suggestion. Tada. Now make a wish.

125
00:19:00,480 --> 00:19:08,880
A 175 horsepower fountain of youth. The 94 Isuzu
rodeo. Practically amazing. I'm in Kmart to pick

126
00:19:08,880 --> 00:19:16,640
up my pictures. But something just caught my
eye. Something I can picture in my bedroom and

127
00:19:16,640 --> 00:19:22,080
flowers to match the patterns for the bedroom.
You have to have a good eye to take pictures.

128
00:19:22,080 --> 00:19:31,040
And I picture this in my living room.
I know. I know. My pictures are ready.

129
00:19:31,040 --> 00:19:37,520
But I'm not. Is this place great or what?

130
00:19:37,520 --> 00:19:42,480
To fight gum disease. Holding Precision has three
sets of bristles. One like a flat brush for the

131
00:19:42,480 --> 00:19:47,760
surface. Another like a rippled brush to reach
between, and a third designed like nothing else

132
00:19:47,760 --> 00:19:54,320
to sweep plaque from the gum line. Fighting gum
disease takes precision. I'm a serious allergy

133
00:19:54,320 --> 00:20:00,400
sufferer. So why am I not suffering? Because
there's Tavis D. Prescription strength Tavisd

134
00:20:00,400 --> 00:20:05,680
let you feel allergy proof for 12 straight hours.
Tavisd and for an antihistamin only. Tavist one.

135
00:20:05,680 --> 00:20:14,640
I'm allergy proof. Are your loved ones resting
in peace? Don't be so sure. He wasn't there. Eye

136
00:20:14,640 --> 00:20:21,760
to eye at a special time tonight on the season
finale of Dr. Quinn, will you marry me? Yes. Dr.

137
00:20:21,760 --> 00:20:27,440
Mike and Sully are engaged, but when a mysterious
man, look into my eyes. You're dead. appears from

138
00:20:27,440 --> 00:20:32,320
her past. You're alive. She is torn between
two loves. You're engaged to two men. Now,

139
00:20:32,320 --> 00:20:36,240
who has whose heart? What are we going to
do? What do you want to do? Find out on Dr.

140
00:20:36,240 --> 00:20:42,160
Quinn Saturday. If you're sick and tired of
your drug and alcohol problem, maybe you're

141
00:20:42,160 --> 00:20:47,440
ready to do something about it. Today could be the
beginning of a new life for you. What do you say?

142
00:20:53,040 --> 00:20:57,760
I thought it was a joke, but somehow
you did it. I wish I had. Sounds pretty

143
00:20:57,760 --> 00:21:06,000
clever. It was scary. I saw something
that hadn't happened yet. James,

144
00:21:06,000 --> 00:21:12,480
it was violent. Sometimes when a person is
upset, the mind can project outward what is

145
00:21:12,480 --> 00:21:17,760
really an interior struggle. Hallucinating.
Believe me, it's amazing what stress can do.

146
00:21:17,760 --> 00:21:30,320
I didn't imagine those things. I saw them
on the screen. They were there. Okay. Okay.

147
00:21:30,320 --> 00:21:38,720
Tomorrow, we'll go back to the theater
together. Maybe I'll see them, too.

148
00:21:38,720 --> 00:21:44,480
Then Neick can both check into a nice quiet
institution with lovely grounds and occupational

149
00:21:44,480 --> 00:22:02,560
therapy games. But don't go back there alone.
You hear me? Wait for me and we'll go together.

150
00:22:02,560 --> 00:22:26,720
Heat.

151
00:22:26,720 --> 00:22:42,560
Heat. Heat.

152
00:22:42,560 --> 00:22:56,880
Heat.

153
00:23:10,800 --> 00:23:21,920
One, please.

154
00:23:21,920 --> 00:23:26,560
Hello, Duby. Get set. We got the biggest
story in years. Is Earl Williams captured

155
00:23:26,560 --> 00:23:30,240
by the Morning Post exclusive?
Yeah. And I want you to tear out

156
00:23:30,240 --> 00:23:33,280
the whole front page. That's going
to send the whole front page out.

157
00:23:33,280 --> 00:23:45,520
But never mind the European war. We got
something a whole lot bigger than that.

158
00:23:45,520 --> 00:23:52,480
One question.

159
00:23:52,480 --> 00:24:03,920
Say, come on. We're waiting for that
story. She said she was coming up.

160
00:24:03,920 --> 00:24:08,080
She couldn't say.

161
00:24:08,080 --> 00:24:14,560
Joke, but somehow you did it. I wish I
had. Sounds pretty clever. It was scary.

162
00:24:14,560 --> 00:24:24,720
I saw something that hadn't happened yet. James,
it's violent. Sometimes when a person is upset,

163
00:24:24,720 --> 00:24:32,080
the mind can project outward what is
really an interior. I wasn't hallucinating.

164
00:24:32,080 --> 00:24:36,880
It's amazing what stress can do. I didn't imagine

165
00:24:36,880 --> 00:24:44,000
those things. I saw them on
the screen. They were there.

166
00:24:44,000 --> 00:25:12,880
One, please. One, one, one, please. One, one, one.

167
00:25:22,400 --> 00:25:38,800
Hey,

168
00:25:38,800 --> 00:25:57,680
okay. Well, he's never quite

169
00:25:57,680 --> 00:26:05,920
not a freaking tragedy.

170
00:26:05,920 --> 00:26:28,720
Heat. Heat.

171
00:26:37,520 --> 00:26:53,600
Heat. Heat.

172
00:26:53,600 --> 00:27:05,120
Heat.

173
00:27:05,120 --> 00:27:14,240
Heat.

174
00:27:28,720 --> 00:27:33,760
I went to the theater last night.

175
00:27:33,760 --> 00:27:38,720
I couldn't help it.

176
00:27:38,720 --> 00:27:42,080
The same thing happened.

177
00:27:44,400 --> 00:27:53,920
I I saw myself walking, going
into the theater, sitting.

178
00:27:53,920 --> 00:28:02,400
I saw myself getting more nervous
the closer I got to the present.

179
00:28:02,400 --> 00:28:07,280
I saw myself panic. Let's calm down.

180
00:28:09,600 --> 00:28:18,960
saw myself leave the theater,
walk to the bus stop,

181
00:28:18,960 --> 00:28:23,360
and then I I saw this blind man with a cane and

182
00:28:23,360 --> 00:28:31,520
there was this billboard card
with the date March 20th on it.

183
00:28:33,280 --> 00:28:44,560
Then I saw this big man come
towards me and I turned to get away.

184
00:28:44,560 --> 00:28:49,760
I ran right into a bus.

185
00:28:49,760 --> 00:28:56,880
But it didn't happen. The future you saw
didn't happen. You're safe. Yesterday was

186
00:28:56,880 --> 00:29:01,520
the 20th. Don't you see? This proves that
what you were seeing on that movie screen

187
00:29:01,520 --> 00:29:08,240
were images created by you or mine. No, it
was the future. If you had seen the future,

188
00:29:08,240 --> 00:29:19,520
you'd be dead now. The bus would have hit you. But
it didn't. No, I ran the other way. You've been

189
00:29:19,520 --> 00:29:28,080
playing some sort of dark game with yourself.
I don't know why, but you've beaten the game.

190
00:29:28,960 --> 00:29:34,640
What you feared was going to happen didn't happen.

191
00:29:34,640 --> 00:29:41,200
Broken the chain.

192
00:29:41,200 --> 00:29:44,800
It's over.

193
00:29:44,800 --> 00:29:56,960
I think so. Dr. James' guarantee.

194
00:29:56,960 --> 00:30:11,920
Okay. You can fill this at the pharmacy around
the corner. You know the date today? March 20th.

195
00:30:11,920 --> 00:30:22,560
Oh my god. Today is the 20th.

196
00:30:44,640 --> 00:30:50,080
Hey. Hey.

197
00:30:50,080 --> 00:30:56,000
Help!

198
00:30:56,000 --> 00:30:59,360
Help!

199
00:30:59,360 --> 00:31:11,600
Alissa!

200
00:31:19,520 --> 00:31:23,040
I'm sorry.

201
00:31:23,040 --> 00:31:26,640
I don't know. I don't know why she
did it. She I was coming towards

202
00:31:26,640 --> 00:31:36,320
just trying to catch the bus and then she
screamed and she ran right into the bus.

203
00:31:38,800 --> 00:32:04,880
down.

204
00:32:04,880 --> 00:32:19,520
Come on, please. Heat. Heat.

205
00:32:29,520 --> 00:32:37,840
Happy Christmas.

206
00:32:37,840 --> 00:32:43,760
A lot of people feel that way. And I'm
not marrying you. I'm afraid. Stop being

207
00:32:43,760 --> 00:32:55,120
afraid. Stop being afraid. The future you saw
didn't happen. Oh my god. The days are 20 20.

208
00:32:55,120 --> 00:32:57,680
This proves that what you've been
seeing on that movie screen were

209
00:32:57,680 --> 00:33:04,240
images created by your mind. I saw the
future. If you had seen the future,

210
00:33:04,240 --> 00:33:11,440
you'd be dead now. You'd be dead now.
It's over. You'd be dead now. You'd

211
00:33:11,440 --> 00:33:20,160
be dead now. You'd be dead now. You'd be
dead now. It's over. It's over. It's over.

212
00:33:20,160 --> 00:33:26,880
There are films in the mind of every human being.
Films that replay the past and on rare occasions,

213
00:33:26,880 --> 00:33:33,360
films that reveal the future, warning us in no
uncertain terms that every minute is precious,

214
00:33:33,360 --> 00:33:38,480
and we must always live our lives to the
fullest. Of course, these films would only

215
00:33:38,480 --> 00:33:43,920
be seen if they are developed and
projected from the Twilight Zone.

216
00:33:50,800 --> 00:33:55,280
With the iced tea pot by Mr. Coffee, you can
make delicious fresh brewed iced tea in about

217
00:33:55,280 --> 00:34:00,640
10 minutes for pennies a glass. So if you're
under the spell of expensive bottled iced teas,

218
00:34:00,640 --> 00:34:07,120
snap out of it. The iced teapot by Mr. Coffee.
Mr. Sabuini, you should put craft cheese and

219
00:34:07,120 --> 00:34:13,360
macaroni on a different shelf. What? Those are
mac and cheese, but craft is cheese and macaroni.

220
00:34:13,360 --> 00:34:28,000
Kids, our mom shop here. Change is good.
Craft cheese and macaroni. The cheesiest.

221
00:34:28,000 --> 00:34:32,400
Excuse me. Is that a sevenstar satin
paint that you're holding? Why yes. Yes,

222
00:34:32,400 --> 00:34:37,680
it is a sevenstar satin. During Ace paint days,
this durable one coat coverage paint is on sale

223
00:34:37,680 --> 00:34:42,640
for just $13.99 a gallon. And because Ace makes
it, your satisfaction's guaranteed. But you got

224
00:34:42,640 --> 00:34:53,520
to hurry. Ace paint days end soon. Need a lift?
Nah, I'm waiting for a bus. I was excited and a

225
00:34:53,520 --> 00:34:59,920
little scared. But the moment I saw my first
and then my second little sweetheart. Well,

226
00:34:59,920 --> 00:35:06,080
just imagine becoming a mother twice in one day.
After the pain was a lot more than I bargained

227
00:35:06,080 --> 00:35:11,360
for. And I was surprised when the doctor gave me
Tylenol with all the other choices they have. But

228
00:35:11,360 --> 00:35:17,360
the Tylenol took care of my pain so I could take
care of my new family. Extra strength Tylenol,

229
00:35:17,360 --> 00:35:23,920
the pain reliever hospitals use most. And now
it's time for dinner. Don't remind me. Come on,

230
00:35:23,920 --> 00:35:30,880
Jane. Jane, dinner's on the back of your Miracle
Whip jar. Now just take your Miracle Whip salad

231
00:35:30,880 --> 00:35:39,600
dressing, ground beef, careful that, macaroni,
and spaghetti sauce. See? Beef and macaroni whip

232
00:35:39,600 --> 00:35:52,720
up. Here you go. Wow, you are good. Whip ups with
Miracle Whip. Jean, you got to get a bigger TV.

233
00:35:52,720 --> 00:36:02,800
Twilight Zone. Rod Serling's lost classics will
continue. It's Blondes, Redheads, and Bernettes.

Join music sensation team Bryson at the Miss

Universe pageant. Then it's the outrageous
comedy of Carol Bernette. Her funniest moments

237
00:36:17,200 --> 00:36:21,840
in her biggest special ever. Carol Bernett
the special years. It's an incredible night

238
00:36:21,840 --> 00:36:35,040
of blondes, redheads, and brunette. Two
new specials Friday on CBS. This is CBS.

239
00:36:35,040 --> 00:36:39,760
Many of its plastic parts have been labeled for
the day they can be recycled. It's painted with

240
00:36:39,760 --> 00:36:45,280
a new technology that reduces factory emissions.
And it air conditioning refrigerant won't deplete

241
00:36:45,280 --> 00:36:51,040
the ozone. No matter which color neon you choose,
we've done our darnest to make it green. Say hello

242
00:36:51,040 --> 00:36:58,400
to Neon. 9475 for starters, 13,000 nicely loaded.
Plymouth Neon Automobile Magazine's automobile of

243
00:36:58,400 --> 00:37:03,680
the year. Now at your Chrysler Plymouth dealer.
The leg. His leg goes like this all the time. He

244
00:37:03,680 --> 00:37:09,840
grinds his teeth all day long with the leg. Every
day he eats a cheeseburger in about 8 seconds. Big

245
00:37:09,840 --> 00:37:16,320
stains. He's always tired. Always. He bites his
nails. Here. Look at his pen. He dreams about work

246
00:37:16,320 --> 00:37:24,000
and then there's a leg. This is supposed to sign
this leg of these. You should see him in traffic.

247
00:37:26,080 --> 00:37:33,920
see this all the time. He did this. It's
hard to believe, but the first flights

248
00:37:33,920 --> 00:37:41,600
used to set down in Lacrosse, Madison,
and Milwaukee on the way to Chicago.

249
00:37:41,600 --> 00:37:47,280
It took nearly 4 hours, give or take an hour.

250
00:37:47,280 --> 00:37:51,600
Now we're the number one on time
airline for the fourth year in a

251
00:37:51,600 --> 00:37:54,960
row. Your flight's on time. There's
just one more thing you don't have to

252
00:37:54,960 --> 00:38:18,480
worry about. Some people just know how to fly.
Schindler Survivors tonight at 11 on 7 News.

253
00:38:43,360 --> 00:38:45,840
Heat. Heat.

254
00:39:05,600 --> 00:39:10,560
Heat. Heat.

255
00:39:16,240 --> 00:39:20,400
When was he brought in? About an hour ago.
Police found him screaming on the sidewalk

256
00:39:20,400 --> 00:39:27,520
outside of a saloon. One evening too many with
old John Barley Corn. Got you by the coattails,

257
00:39:27,520 --> 00:39:32,720
doesn't he? Friend, help me. Let me
put him back in the ward. He'll be

258
00:39:32,720 --> 00:39:39,040
dead in an hour. But Dr. Ramsey is
on his way down, sir. To do what?

259
00:39:45,760 --> 00:39:56,240
hurt here. Take him inside. You don't honestly
believe you can do anything for him. What do

260
00:39:56,240 --> 00:40:00,560
you mean him? Don't you mean it? Man's got
perodonitis. That appendic. But he is a man,

261
00:40:00,560 --> 00:40:04,800
doctor, so let us treat him as a man and not as a
potential kadaavver. You listen to me, Orani. This

262
00:40:04,800 --> 00:40:10,160
isn't one of your mud flawed medical court tents.
We have discipline here, thank God, and some sense

263
00:40:10,160 --> 00:40:18,000
of priority. Don't you think for a minute you
can bring your battlefield matters in here.

264
00:40:18,000 --> 00:40:24,000
I learned more medicine in those bloody tents and
in a dozen bloody meadows from Chikananga to the

265
00:40:24,000 --> 00:40:30,320
second Bal Run than you have in your whole
fat posture and comfort of a lifetime. Now,

266
00:40:30,320 --> 00:40:35,520
my anatomy class is waiting for me to remove an
appendix. Should you be heard during that surgery,

267
00:40:35,520 --> 00:40:53,600
I'll have you healed in, and the second offending
organ to be removed would be your tongue.

268
00:40:53,600 --> 00:40:56,640
Ether,

269
00:40:56,640 --> 00:41:01,760
we're going to let you sleep now, and
when you wake, there will be no more pain.

270
00:41:11,520 --> 00:41:20,320
You'll note gentlemen the symptoms gray
sweating full of fever. Severe pain on the

271
00:41:20,320 --> 00:41:26,480
right side. The location suggests appendix
the color and pain peritonitis which makes

272
00:41:26,480 --> 00:41:32,160
the removal of the appendix imperative.
And judging by the nature of the poison,

273
00:41:32,160 --> 00:41:38,800
carries with it very little chance of survival.

274
00:41:38,800 --> 00:41:44,800
Appendix removed, infection drained,

275
00:41:44,800 --> 00:41:57,120
tissues cut away, sutures in place.
Unfortunately, we've done all we can.

276
00:41:57,120 --> 00:42:04,400
The hyena me, doctor. I want you to share
the joke with us. Wasn't exactly a joke,

277
00:42:04,400 --> 00:42:10,720
doctor. I was just commenting. I want to hear the
comment. Well, it's it's just that old thing about

278
00:42:10,720 --> 00:42:17,440
uh well, about the operation being successful
and uh the patient dying. Death can be tragic,

279
00:42:17,440 --> 00:42:22,720
premature, violent, unexpected, and sometimes
merciful. But if you ever find it funny,

280
00:42:22,720 --> 00:42:27,680
my young friend, you shouldn't be in
a hospital. You should be in a cage.

281
00:42:30,720 --> 00:42:36,960
Tucker Ramsey. He's gone.

282
00:42:36,960 --> 00:42:41,520
He's passed over.

283
00:42:41,520 --> 00:42:56,160
Look at this. Look at this situs here. That's
a depressed skull fracture. Massive trauma 10

284
00:42:56,160 --> 00:43:05,280
12 in long. God knows how many years old. What's
it mean, doctor? Means this man should have died

285
00:43:05,280 --> 00:43:13,600
years ago. No one could have survived this. Do you
know this man? Name's O'Neal, sir. Charity case.

286
00:43:13,600 --> 00:43:22,720
He said he came from Yarmouth Village. Where's
that? On the coast about 80 miles from here.

287
00:43:22,720 --> 00:43:26,880
Their

288
00:43:26,880 --> 00:43:32,960
deaf surgical fingers notwithstanding. Doctor,
I understand our patient expired. Reinforcing

289
00:43:32,960 --> 00:43:39,200
your view, doctor, that the frail person is no
match for the pale rider. That's the part of you,

290
00:43:39,200 --> 00:43:44,400
Ramsey, that I find so difficult to live with.
This constant preoccupation with giving battle to

291
00:43:44,400 --> 00:43:50,400
death as if it were your personal responsibility.
I'll put aside your insubordination,

292
00:43:50,400 --> 00:43:54,880
your willfulness, your impatience, and even your
monumental temper. And I'll even allow for the

293
00:43:54,880 --> 00:44:00,320
fact that you happen to be a damn fine surgeon.
But was it the war that left you so emotionally

294
00:44:00,320 --> 00:44:12,720
knotted up? So obsessed with the idea that
maintaining life was your special province?

295
00:44:12,720 --> 00:44:17,360
Have you heard of a man called Weeden?

296
00:44:17,360 --> 00:44:22,640
Jeremy Weeden. He spoke
once at the university here,

297
00:44:22,640 --> 00:44:31,280
maybe 10 or 12 years ago, somewhere
between a fraud and a crackpot.

298
00:44:31,280 --> 00:44:38,320
He's done some interesting research on
regeneration. And then he disappeared.

299
00:44:38,320 --> 00:44:46,480
a small loss of a scientific community.
But he came from Yarmouth village. So

300
00:44:46,480 --> 00:44:52,640
the deceased O'Neal, he came from Yarmouth
Village. My god, a coincidence. But of what

301
00:44:52,640 --> 00:45:04,400
consequence? O'Neal suffered a skull fracture.
Massive. With a width and depth so appalling

302
00:45:04,400 --> 00:45:16,560
he could not conceivably have survived it.
So what's the connection? My preoccupation.

303
00:45:16,560 --> 00:45:23,360
My obsession, Dr. Ames, has been titillated.

304
00:45:23,360 --> 00:45:32,880
I'd like to go to Yarmouth Village to see if
there's a connection. Dr. Benjamin Ramsay is

305
00:45:32,880 --> 00:45:38,880
a man on a mission. said mission involving a
declaration of war on an enemy that has never

306
00:45:38,880 --> 00:45:45,840
been defeated. The enemy is death. And Dr. Ramsay
will soon discover that trying to overcome it may

307
00:45:45,840 --> 00:46:00,000
not be the most prudent of courses, especially
when the battle is waged in the Twilight Zone.

308
00:46:00,000 --> 00:46:08,880
Don't meet with your approval. It don't Well,
sir, the sheets is clean, the food's passable,

309
00:46:08,880 --> 00:46:24,240
and the rates are within reason. And uh if you're
a mind to bring a lady up to the second floor,

310
00:46:24,240 --> 00:46:30,960
the alternative is to take a train out and
that'll be tomorrow. There's two of them. Do

311
00:46:30,960 --> 00:46:41,440
you know a man named Weaton? Jeremy Weeden ran
a little apothecary shop here. Retired. What

312
00:46:41,440 --> 00:46:46,000
do you want with him? Half an hour of his
time. Where can I find him? About 3 miles

313
00:46:46,000 --> 00:46:53,680
out called Shadow Island. And people around here
would rather go around the horn than over there.

314
00:46:53,680 --> 00:46:59,440
But I can lend you a boat in the morning.
See that you get there. You're omniscient,

315
00:46:59,440 --> 00:47:06,080
Mr. Perkins. And do I tip my hat at that or
tell my horses to lay a load on you? It's a

316
00:47:06,080 --> 00:47:15,440
compliment. It means you're all things to all
men. I'll have that boat as early as possible.

317
00:47:15,440 --> 00:47:26,400
You got it. Omnicient as hell, ain't
I? Without a doubt, Mr. Perkins.

318
00:47:39,440 --> 00:47:49,120
Good evening. I'd like a room closed.

319
00:47:49,120 --> 00:48:00,400
Dr. Ramsey. Medical doctor. Medical doctor. Is
that your luggage? It is all of it. 13 steamer

320
00:48:00,400 --> 00:48:09,840
trunks are arriving on an Egyptian galley
in the morning. Is that a joke? An attempt.

321
00:48:09,840 --> 00:48:16,800
Room 7, top of the stairs, lav which is at
the other end of the corridor. That will be

322
00:48:16,800 --> 00:48:29,840
$3 in advance. I think I'll have
a drink before I turn in. Morning.

323
00:48:29,840 --> 00:48:36,400
What will it be, sir? Whiskey in a tumbler.

324
00:48:36,400 --> 00:48:43,200
You come in on the train in lonely splendor.
I was the only man to get off here. You've

325
00:48:43,200 --> 00:48:48,320
seen the village. Why would anyone want
to get off here? Not for your whiskey,

326
00:48:48,320 --> 00:48:53,840
my dear. That's for damn sure. Remember, I'm
leaving for Brewster early in the morning.

327
00:48:58,720 --> 00:49:04,960
Tell me, does a Jeremy Wheaton ever come in here?

328
00:49:04,960 --> 00:49:15,760
In here? Hardly. Wheaten lives on the island. So
I've heard. What does he do there? Do there? Why,

329
00:49:15,760 --> 00:49:20,800
I guess not very much. He's a [ __ ] Had a
terrible accident. Stays out there pretty

330
00:49:20,800 --> 00:49:26,400
much by himself. There's a niece that looks after
him. She comes over every now and then shopping.

331
00:49:26,400 --> 00:49:31,840
What about a William O'Neal? There's plenty
of O'Neal's around here. Well, this is a dead

332
00:49:31,840 --> 00:49:37,360
O'Neal. I performed surgery on him last week in
Boston. Plenty of dead O'Neals as well. Fact is,

333
00:49:37,360 --> 00:49:45,040
we don't truck much with people from the
island. They ain't our sort, including Wheaton.

334
00:49:45,040 --> 00:49:49,920
I see. Well, good night, Mory.

335
00:49:54,480 --> 00:50:00,240
Will you be needing your bed turned down, sir?

336
00:50:00,240 --> 00:50:08,800
That won't be necessary. Will
there be anything else then, sir?

337
00:50:08,800 --> 00:50:39,920
I think not. Well, if you change your mind,
you'll be the first to know. Heat. Heat.

338
00:50:55,920 --> 00:51:08,000
You know the board

339
00:51:08,000 --> 00:51:22,160
husher All right.

340
00:51:22,160 --> 00:51:26,800
Okay, bring it up.

341
00:51:26,800 --> 00:51:31,680
Don't expect I'll be long. Well, if you are,
don't expect me to be here. This place has a

342
00:51:31,680 --> 00:51:49,040
bad smell to it and a worse feeling. And it's
a fair swim back to the mainland. Hey sir.

343
00:51:49,040 --> 00:51:58,880
All right, sir.

344
00:51:58,880 --> 00:52:05,280
Moving over.

345
00:52:09,600 --> 00:52:16,160
That's good. Come on.

346
00:52:16,160 --> 00:52:20,560
Watch it.

347
00:52:20,560 --> 00:52:33,680
Quickly. Quickly. Get it. Hurry.
Ready. Push it. Well, hold on there.

348
00:52:33,680 --> 00:52:40,960
This man is dead. Too late. Take it up.

349
00:52:40,960 --> 00:52:45,600
If you're a minister, mister, give him the
blessing and get the hell out. Where might I

350
00:52:45,600 --> 00:52:53,200
find Jeremy Weaten? Mr. Weaten doesn't see too
many people. He's not feeling too well. Didn't

351
00:52:53,200 --> 00:52:57,440
ask you his social habits or his condition.
I just want to know where I can find him.

352
00:53:00,640 --> 00:53:11,440
A big house at the end of the road there.

353
00:53:11,440 --> 00:53:18,320
He came in that boat over
there. The fellow with the cap

354
00:53:18,320 --> 00:53:28,080
that was instrument

355
00:53:28,080 --> 00:53:41,600
I'll help you.

356
00:53:55,120 --> 00:54:02,320
Heat.

357
00:54:02,320 --> 00:54:06,800
Heat.

358
00:54:21,600 --> 00:54:27,920
My name is Dr. Ben Ramsey. I've come to speak
with Jeremy Wheatley. My uncle is napping at the

359
00:54:27,920 --> 00:54:36,080
moment. Doctor, perhaps you'd like to tell me the
nature of your business. And who are you? I'm Mr.

360
00:54:36,080 --> 00:54:44,320
Weaton's niece. My name is Susan. I'm his ward.
You live here? That surprises you? Well, it's a

361
00:54:44,320 --> 00:54:53,920
little big, little old, little isolated. I like
space. I respect age, and I'm not particularly

362
00:54:53,920 --> 00:55:01,280
social. Sociability is not one of the major
character traits of this island. Then why stay?

363
00:55:03,520 --> 00:55:09,680
I'm perverse, Miss Wheaton.

364
00:55:09,680 --> 00:55:17,280
And since I don't have much time, suppose
you introduce me to your uncle. I'd sooner

365
00:55:17,280 --> 00:55:29,520
introduce a mouse to a cobra. And
I'll assume the responsibility myself,

366
00:55:29,520 --> 00:55:30,640
Dr. Ramsey.

367
00:55:38,000 --> 00:55:48,080
I'd better tell him that he has a visitor.

368
00:55:56,240 --> 00:56:16,000
You'll find him the least sociable
of anyone you've met so far.

369
00:56:16,000 --> 00:56:17,520
There's someone here to see you.

370
00:56:41,520 --> 00:56:44,800
God be with you.

371
00:56:50,800 --> 00:56:55,680
The Air Force has the stealth.

372
00:56:55,680 --> 00:57:00,000
Music has Sonatra.

373
00:57:00,000 --> 00:57:08,000
Paris has the Eiffel Tower.

374
00:57:08,000 --> 00:57:12,320
We have this

375
00:57:15,360 --> 00:57:20,880
The new Maxim from Nissan.

376
00:57:20,880 --> 00:57:27,920
Discover the unexpected worlds of the Annheiser
Bush theme parks. Busushch Gardens Tampa, a

377
00:57:27,920 --> 00:57:35,600
place where animals run wild, but it's unlike any
zoo. SeaWorld, a world where oceans come to life,

378
00:57:35,600 --> 00:57:42,880
though it's beyond any aquarium. Busch Gardens
Williamsburg. A land where roller coasters rage.

379
00:57:42,880 --> 00:57:48,720
Yet it's more than just an amusement park. The
Annheiser Bush theme parks. They're like nowhere

380
00:57:48,720 --> 00:57:54,720
you've ever been before. Believe me, after 15
seasons as a pro quarterback, I didn't opt for

381
00:57:54,720 --> 00:58:00,160
the early retirement plan. But hey, I still
love to compete and I still get sore. That's

382
00:58:00,160 --> 00:58:05,280
when I take Motrin IB for pain. Clinical tests
prove that two Motrin IB work better than two

383
00:58:05,280 --> 00:58:10,880
extra strength Tylenol. And Motrin IB is the same
Motrin doctors prescribe, but in non-prescription

384
00:58:10,880 --> 00:58:17,680
strength. I'm not about to take this retirement
business lying down. Motrin IB. It's fast. It's

385
00:58:17,680 --> 00:58:23,840
powerful for me. It's the one that works. Okay.
Two scoops of raisins make Kellogg's Raisin Brand

386
00:58:23,840 --> 00:58:31,200
taste so good people forget it's good for you.
What do you think? It's delicious. And it uh

387
00:58:31,200 --> 00:58:36,400
tastes good. That's the same reason. He stole my
answer. It's not an answer. I I agree with them.

388
00:58:36,400 --> 00:58:40,080
It tastes great. Okay. Okay. Okay. You got the
first part right. Kellogg's Raisin Brand tastes

389
00:58:40,080 --> 00:59:04,560
good. But good for us. There are two reasons
to eat Kellogg's Raisin Brand. the taste. And

390
00:59:23,840 --> 00:59:31,440
Twilight Zone, Rod Serling's lost classics will
continue. This is the movie they don't want you

391
00:59:31,440 --> 00:59:44,480
to see. You've heard the unbelievable stories
and you've seen the extraordinary tabloids.

392
00:59:44,480 --> 00:59:57,680
But behind the story you think you know
so well is a story you don't know at all.

393
01:00:14,640 --> 01:00:23,520
CBS presents a world premiere minisseries starring
Edward James Almo and Beverly D'Angelo based on

394
01:00:23,520 --> 01:00:36,960
the crime of the decade. Menendez I kill
him in Beverly Hills Sunday. This is CBS.

395
01:00:36,960 --> 01:00:42,400
When temperatures fall, Labat ice beer is created.

396
01:00:42,400 --> 01:00:49,760
The ice is separated from the beer for
a uniquely rich, uniquely smooth beer.

397
01:00:50,640 --> 01:01:09,120
Incredibly smooth beer begins here. Only from
Canada. Labat Ice Beer. Real smooth taste.

398
01:01:09,120 --> 01:01:16,400
Did I get any messages?

399
01:01:32,240 --> 01:01:41,200
Schindler's Survivors tonight at 11 on 7 News.

400
01:01:46,400 --> 01:02:04,320
Mr. Weeden, I'm Dr. Benjamin Ramsey from Boston.

401
01:02:04,320 --> 01:02:11,440
From right there will do. I'll be able to
hear you. Deafness doesn't happen to be one

402
01:02:11,440 --> 01:02:18,400
of my afflictions. Nor is leprosy one of mine.
Would this be sufficiently antiseptic for you,

403
01:02:18,400 --> 01:02:25,440
Mr. V? A proper buffer against germs, but a
damned easy range for a daringer or a dagger.

404
01:02:25,440 --> 01:02:33,600
Do I look like an assassin? Why are you here?
I happen to be a surgeon. How is that supposed

405
01:02:33,600 --> 01:02:43,920
to reassure me? Dr. Ramsey, let me tell you
something. I'm not unfamiliar with surgeons.

406
01:02:43,920 --> 01:02:54,000
Observe the handiwork of one of your colleagues.
What a slicing similarity there is between your

407
01:02:54,000 --> 01:03:02,240
illustrious surgeons and the ordinary butcher.
The blood on his apron is from chickens and ve

408
01:03:02,240 --> 01:03:14,640
cut cutlets while you gentle healers deal in arms
and legs. You I dare say have chopped off a leg or

409
01:03:14,640 --> 01:03:21,040
two in your illustrious career. Sadism happens
to be a prerequisite of surgery. Mr. Weeden,

410
01:03:21,040 --> 01:03:26,640
I'm surprised you didn't know that. I'm currently
writing a textbook called Maming for Pleasure. Oh,

411
01:03:26,640 --> 01:03:34,800
get on with it. There must be some point to this
intrusion. A patient of mine, William O'Neal. I

412
01:03:34,800 --> 01:03:44,400
know him. You knew him. He died in my operating
table. The Lord forgiveth and the surgeons take it

413
01:03:44,400 --> 01:03:52,960
away. So he had an inflamed appendix, peritonitis.
He came to me far too late. The point of the uh

414
01:03:52,960 --> 01:04:00,480
the intrusion, Mr. Ween is that this man suffered
a skull fracture some years before. A scar on the

415
01:04:00,480 --> 01:04:08,640
back of his head attested to it and it it had
never been treated. The point, sir, the point.

416
01:04:08,640 --> 01:04:14,560
No one could survive that kind of skull
fracture. I thought since you knew O'Neal,

417
01:04:14,560 --> 01:04:19,920
you could inform me as to the nature of the
injury, when it occurred, and how. Short of that,

418
01:04:19,920 --> 01:04:25,120
I'd be at least doing some service to the deceased
since no one claimed his body by informing someone

419
01:04:25,120 --> 01:04:32,880
of his death. A charming courtesy also
pointless. You comfort the dying doctor.

420
01:04:32,880 --> 01:04:39,680
You don't run errands for me. Is there something
else? I wanted to find a connection, Mr. Weeden.

421
01:04:39,680 --> 01:04:44,800
Any connection between you and the deceased. I
was hoping you'd give me one. All I can give you

422
01:04:44,800 --> 01:04:55,840
are the directions to Boston. You go back to the
mainland and then you turn south along the coast.

423
01:04:55,840 --> 01:05:03,840
Dr. Ramsey,

424
01:05:03,840 --> 01:05:11,520
you won't tell me what. What can I tell you? You
deliver up an uninvited autopsy on a town drunk

425
01:05:11,520 --> 01:05:22,160
named O'Neal with a skull scar and you expect
me to produce a a medical file and he will

426
01:05:22,160 --> 01:05:28,880
I'll give you the tenuous connection Dr. I
ran an apothecary shop in Yarmouth village

427
01:05:28,880 --> 01:05:36,560
and several times when Mr. Renee was falling
down, dead, drunk. I gave his family bandages

428
01:05:36,560 --> 01:05:43,680
to wrap up the cuts and the bruises.
And there you have the connection. Now,

429
01:05:43,680 --> 01:05:54,640
with the advent of poor's death, I'm relieved
of further acts of charity by Rigger Mortis.

430
01:05:54,640 --> 01:06:00,320
Good day to you, doctor. Mr. Weeden. I took
the liberty of making some inquiries about

431
01:06:00,320 --> 01:06:06,160
you. You closed that apothecary shop,
I understand, some 10 years ago after

432
01:06:06,160 --> 01:06:12,880
a railroad accident. But during that time and
before, you did considerable experimentation in

433
01:06:12,880 --> 01:06:20,240
the field of tissue regeneration. I did a lot of
research on that phase of your activity. My god,

434
01:06:20,240 --> 01:06:26,720
how inquisitive men waste their perishing
time. All this comes to you by way of research,

435
01:06:26,720 --> 01:06:32,320
Dr. Trivia, available to you for many gossip in
the village street, much as you give direction to

436
01:06:32,320 --> 01:06:41,760
the local catouse. Yes, I gave up the apothecary
shop. And yes, I lost both my legs. And yes,

437
01:06:41,760 --> 01:06:51,760
I experimented with tissues and cells
and the chemistry of both. And yes,

438
01:06:51,760 --> 01:07:03,520
my dear doctor, this interview is at an end.
Please go out the same door that you came in.

439
01:07:03,520 --> 01:07:08,720
I don't know what I expected to find here, Mr.
Weeden, but I thought there would be something,

440
01:07:08,720 --> 01:07:13,840
a clue perhaps, as to why the people
of Yarmath Village hate this island.

441
01:07:13,840 --> 01:07:21,680
The people of Yarmmouth village are a a breed of
dreamless, ignorant peasantry who go from cradle

442
01:07:21,680 --> 01:07:28,640
to grave smelling of fish, leaving behind
a legacy of superstitious garbage greedily

443
01:07:28,640 --> 01:07:37,600
stored up during a lifetime of boredom. For I
see you have a you have a weakness for fantasy,

444
01:07:37,600 --> 01:07:45,120
Dr. Ramsay, black magic, witchcraft, policism.
If any of this this kind of trash titilates you,

445
01:07:45,120 --> 01:08:05,680
you'll you'll get your craw
full of it in Yarmouth Village.

446
01:08:29,680 --> 01:08:34,800
I'm sorry, Dr. Ramsay. I didn't know
you were leaving. Not leaving. Not now.

447
01:08:40,320 --> 01:08:44,400
Black magic, Mr. Weeden, does not
titilate me. But down in your parlor,

448
01:08:44,400 --> 01:08:50,080
sir, I have just observed a dead man walking.
Now, I want to hear from you why he's here,

449
01:08:50,080 --> 01:08:59,920
why he's alive, and out of bandages. What
was it you dispensed in that apothecary shop?

450
01:08:59,920 --> 01:09:21,280
Uh-oh.

451
01:09:21,280 --> 01:09:28,480
Oh my god.

452
01:09:53,360 --> 01:10:05,440
Dr. Ramsey Simpson is the name. Acting magistrate
of the village. Well, acting magistrate Simpson,

453
01:10:05,440 --> 01:10:12,320
let me buy you a drink. I'm on duty, sir.
I've just had occasion to witness the body

454
01:10:12,320 --> 01:10:18,800
of the lately deceased Ezekiel Perkins. A man
I understand is known to you. Don't run around

455
01:10:18,800 --> 01:10:23,920
the barn with me, acting magistrate citizen. Just
say what it is you have on your mind. Well, sir,

456
01:10:23,920 --> 01:10:31,200
we we only have your say in the matter. You have a
body across the street with his skull caved in and

457
01:10:31,200 --> 01:10:38,720
a gallon of water inside his lungs. The results
are yes, the results we have. But as to a witness,

458
01:10:38,720 --> 01:10:44,000
we are sadly enough devoid of a witness.
So I must assume in the interest of closing

459
01:10:44,000 --> 01:10:52,240
this case that his asalent asalants are
unknown to us. Would that satisfy you?

460
01:10:54,240 --> 01:11:01,600
Does it satisfy you? What else can we do? We are
a small village as you can see. We have no regular

461
01:11:01,600 --> 01:11:08,720
police force, no prosecuting officers. We haven't
the means to pursue this case. Mr. Magistrate,

462
01:11:08,720 --> 01:11:13,440
all that is required is one semi-boyant rowboat
to take you over to that island and start

463
01:11:13,440 --> 01:11:21,040
investigating. Dr. Ramsay, you are a stranger
here. So it follows that you are quite unaware

464
01:11:21,040 --> 01:11:27,920
of the local custom uh certain superstitions you
might call them. We have found it to be of benefit

465
01:11:27,920 --> 01:11:34,160
to ignore the doings on that island. In point of
fact, it is out of our jurisdiction anyway. So

466
01:11:34,160 --> 01:11:40,080
with no offense to you, doctor, may I suggest that
you too stay clear of that place? How in the name

467
01:11:40,080 --> 01:11:46,160
of God can you sit here on your beited behind when
things are going on on that island, things to do

468
01:11:46,160 --> 01:11:57,520
with life and death and just ignore it? They can
kill and they can resurrect. I have to know why

469
01:11:57,520 --> 01:12:04,000
and how. What do you intend to do, doctor? I ask
you that question in my official capacity. Your

470
01:12:04,000 --> 01:12:11,760
official capacity, Mr. magistrate is obviously
to stick your fat head in the sand. As to what

471
01:12:11,760 --> 01:12:23,680
I intend to do, since it will be without your
help, will also be without your knowledge.

472
01:12:23,680 --> 01:12:30,400
I'm going to take a walk, Mr. Flanigan.
If I'm not back by tomorrow morning,

473
01:12:30,400 --> 01:12:34,800
you may rent out my room and sell my effects.

474
01:12:40,160 --> 01:12:56,960
Hold your table.

475
01:12:56,960 --> 01:13:22,480
Heat. Heat.

476
01:13:26,720 --> 01:13:29,760
It's time to find out why people
are buying the Mercury Villager

477
01:13:29,760 --> 01:13:33,680
instead of our minivan. After you,
sir. We all can't fit in here. Oh,

478
01:13:33,680 --> 01:13:41,440
no. You just slide the seat back. It's actually
very complicated. Like a V6 leather CD player

479
01:13:41,440 --> 01:13:49,120
if you like that sort of thing, which
I How does it drive? Great. I mean,

480
01:13:49,120 --> 01:13:54,480
it also has standard four-wheel anti-lock
brakes. The Mercury Villager. All this on

481
01:13:54,480 --> 01:13:59,840
the quality of a Mercury. I think I want
to trade my hair for yours. Why? Why?

482
01:13:59,840 --> 01:14:10,240
Why? Because your hair has I don't know. It It
has like bounce and shine and and oomph. Woo.

483
01:14:10,240 --> 01:14:16,480
So, what do you use? You've never told me. It's a
secret. Come on. Swap shampoo. Swap? Mhm. Really?

484
01:14:16,480 --> 01:14:21,840
Yeah. So, all this time I've been paying more
money for No. I wouldn't pay more money for that.

485
01:14:21,840 --> 01:14:27,600
Neither would I. With S Swave Shampoo, beautiful
hair doesn't have to cost a fortune. One of the

486
01:14:27,600 --> 01:14:32,560
guys found one new burger that eats like two.
Introducing the tasty new mega double cheese from

487
01:14:32,560 --> 01:14:38,000
Burger King. One sandwich with two burgers for 1/3
pound of flame broil taste. It's 50% bigger than

488
01:14:38,000 --> 01:14:43,280
our double cheeseburger used to be. And at the
everyday price of just $1.99 since the burger got

489
01:14:43,280 --> 01:14:49,920
bigger, the value did, too. The new Mega Double
Cheese, just $1.99 every day at Burger King.

490
01:14:49,920 --> 01:14:59,200
We may not be the world's number one
fast food place. It just tastes that way.

491
01:14:59,200 --> 01:15:03,920
If the Thai had never been invented,

492
01:15:03,920 --> 01:15:11,200
if pantyhose had self-destructed upon creation,
and all there was to wear were the loose,

493
01:15:11,200 --> 01:15:16,880
free clothes Fruit of the Loom makes, then
life would be truly enjoyable. It's good to

494
01:15:16,880 --> 01:15:24,240
see him so relaxed. Yeah. And you would
be truly comfortable. Fruit of the loom.

495
01:15:24,240 --> 01:15:30,960
Clothes that make you feel good. Some deep down
greasy stains are just too scary for washing

496
01:15:30,960 --> 01:15:37,280
and detergents alone. But here's a stain
remover that won't run from really tough

497
01:15:37,280 --> 01:15:42,640
stains. It's Shout concentrated gel with a
built-in brush. The powerful concentrated

498
01:15:42,640 --> 01:15:50,880
gel works deep down into fibers to lift
out tough stains from grass to grease.

499
01:15:50,880 --> 01:15:57,920
Want a tough stain out? Shout it out with Shout
Gel from SC Johnson Wax. A hang gliding accident

500
01:15:57,920 --> 01:16:02,720
put Marilyn Hamilton in a wheelchair, a clumsy
oldfashioned one. So she up and designed a new

501
01:16:02,720 --> 01:16:07,120
one. You feel like it's a part of your body,
you know? It's just effortless. It just does

502
01:16:07,120 --> 01:16:11,440
whatever you want it to do. But Marilyn Hamilton
did something else, too. Something even more

503
01:16:11,440 --> 01:16:22,480
important. Find out what it is on Eye on
America tomorrow on the CBS Evening News.

504
01:16:22,480 --> 01:16:27,200
You have infinite faith in your fellow
man, Miss Weeden. Or a death wish,

505
01:16:27,200 --> 01:16:34,480
one or the other. I was on my way to the
inn to find you. I saved you the trip.

506
01:16:35,760 --> 01:16:44,400
You also pick odd times for nighttime
strolling and you for sailing.

507
01:16:44,400 --> 01:16:51,440
What brings you here, Miss Weeden? My uncle is
sick. He's become quite ill. He needs medical

508
01:16:51,440 --> 01:16:57,200
attention. Well, so did I earlier today.
And the man who took me to the island,

509
01:16:57,200 --> 01:17:03,600
Ezekiel Perkins, is now beyond medical
attention. That wasn't our doing.

510
01:17:06,400 --> 01:17:11,680
Some things can be explained, Dr. Ramsay. A whole
hell of a lot of things have to be explained,

511
01:17:11,680 --> 01:17:20,480
Miss Weeden. Now, what is it you want? Let me
take you over to the island. Examine my uncle.

512
01:17:20,480 --> 01:17:25,040
Tell me if

513
01:17:25,040 --> 01:17:38,560
if there's any hope.

514
01:17:38,560 --> 01:17:50,160
There is always hope. There
rarely is in my experience.

515
01:17:50,160 --> 01:18:05,760
In my experience, hope may be the only
eternal thing on the face of the earth.

516
01:18:05,760 --> 01:18:10,080
You have a gentle touch, doctor.

517
01:18:12,160 --> 01:18:16,480
In very special cases.

518
01:18:16,480 --> 01:18:20,960
In very special cases.

519
01:18:20,960 --> 01:18:37,280
I can respond to it.

520
01:18:37,280 --> 01:18:53,600
Heat.

521
01:18:53,600 --> 01:19:00,320
Heat.

522
01:19:00,320 --> 01:19:15,440
Heat.

523
01:19:15,440 --> 01:19:22,720
Heat.

524
01:19:37,680 --> 01:19:41,600
So you came

525
01:19:41,600 --> 01:19:45,040
my heart

526
01:19:45,040 --> 01:19:49,680
very late.

527
01:19:55,360 --> 01:20:02,960
Shall I be alive in the morning? If
I were a betting man, Mr. Wheaton,

528
01:20:02,960 --> 01:20:12,720
I would say the odds were 2 to1 in favor of
you eating breakfast. How about even for lunch?

529
01:20:12,720 --> 01:20:18,480
And very much against you for dinner.

530
01:20:20,000 --> 01:20:41,040
It was a sizable heart seizure. I judge not the
first. Take this. Fifth, sixth, perhaps. Seventh.

531
01:20:41,040 --> 01:20:54,400
Doctors read Shakespeare? Some do. I have
I am reminded of what Julius Caesar said

532
01:20:54,400 --> 01:21:02,080
about death. Of all the wonders that
I yet have heard, it seems to me most

533
01:21:02,080 --> 01:21:13,760
strange that men should fear seeing a death
a necessary end will come when it will come.

534
01:21:14,720 --> 01:21:23,680
However, it is one thing, my dear young doctor, to
accept death. It's quite another to beckon to it,

535
01:21:23,680 --> 01:21:34,640
to to invite it in. You have to give
battle to it. You take it half. Yes.

536
01:21:37,840 --> 01:21:42,400
Have you

537
01:21:42,400 --> 01:21:51,760
ever heard of an Egyptian plant called
Cairo Bush? Yes. The ancient pharaohs

538
01:21:51,760 --> 01:22:01,200
used its berries. Yes. As part of a a pus. It had
incredible healing properties. Accidentally. Oh,

539
01:22:01,200 --> 01:22:06,960
mind you, accidentally I discovered that when
you mixed an extract of the of the berries with

540
01:22:06,960 --> 01:22:17,120
lardin and and some other ingredients liquefied
and administered through a syringe directly into

541
01:22:17,120 --> 01:22:28,800
the into the heart cavity. It it re-energized the
heart and stopped flesh decay. It brought back

542
01:22:28,800 --> 01:22:37,840
life. If you walk around here, doctor, you'll
notice that there are no new grave stones,

543
01:22:37,840 --> 01:22:49,360
no recent tombstones, none at all.
No need for graves, doctor. Where the

544
01:22:49,360 --> 01:22:59,120
in the place where the dead walk? How many?
3/4 of all the people on this island, 200,

545
01:22:59,120 --> 01:23:17,520
300, all living, breathing, walking,
talking. Because like you, Dr. Ramsey,

546
01:23:17,520 --> 01:23:26,000
Jeremy Weeden was the most inquisitive man. Are
you telling me that you inject a hypodermic into

547
01:23:26,000 --> 01:23:48,320
a corpse? If the injection could be administered
within 15 minutes of death, I could restore life.

548
01:23:50,160 --> 01:23:54,080
Oh, I know that look, doctor. I
used to see it in the mirror. The

549
01:23:54,080 --> 01:24:13,200
dream. The elusive dream. Maybe
just to relieve the nightmares.

550
01:24:13,200 --> 01:24:17,600
There was a place farmer Miller's cornfield.

551
01:24:18,560 --> 01:24:24,320
That's a bucolic euphemism
to cover a slaughter house.

552
01:24:24,320 --> 01:24:28,080
There was a battle there.

553
01:24:28,080 --> 01:24:32,880
Long rows of ripe corn and behind them long

554
01:24:32,880 --> 01:24:41,440
rows of men. The rifle and artillery were
like a sythe running through those lines.

555
01:24:43,120 --> 01:24:53,680
And afterwards in the rain, the
wounded lying there, four, five,

556
01:24:53,680 --> 01:25:03,360
600 men. It was a cry like like the wind,

557
01:25:03,360 --> 01:25:12,880
a moaning, wailing cry. And when the
rain washed the mud from their faces,

558
01:25:12,880 --> 01:25:22,160
they had soldiers. They had the down of children,

559
01:25:22,160 --> 01:25:33,120
boys playing a terrible game.

560
01:25:43,520 --> 01:25:51,440
All through the night, I
went up and down that line,

561
01:25:51,440 --> 01:25:58,320
filling gaping wounds, cutting off arms and legs,

562
01:25:58,320 --> 01:26:00,960
watching them die.

563
01:26:08,720 --> 01:26:13,760
God, how they died.

564
01:26:13,760 --> 01:26:20,720
God, how they died.

565
01:26:20,720 --> 01:26:24,640
You realize you're one of a hundred applying for
this job? Oh, yes, sir. I am. Good. Let's get to

566
01:26:24,640 --> 01:26:31,360
the terms. Generous salary. Club membership.
Car. Uh, wait. This uh isn't a Mercury Sable.

567
01:26:31,360 --> 01:26:35,520
It happens to be the very latest latest to
imitate the sable. Is that so? The bottom line,

568
01:26:35,520 --> 01:26:40,160
no sable, no deal. Fine, then I suggest
I suggest Gordon, you see about getting

569
01:26:40,160 --> 01:26:46,160
my new executive vice president here, a sable? A
nice red one, Gordo. Mercury Sable with standard

570
01:26:46,160 --> 01:26:52,560
dual airbags and available ABS brakes. Accept
no substitutes. Florida's Walt Disney World.

571
01:26:52,560 --> 01:26:57,760
There's more new to do in all three theme parks
this summer. The Magic Kingdom. Scream down the

572
01:26:57,760 --> 01:27:04,320
world's steepest plume ride, Splash Mountain.
HCO 94. See and touch all the newest video games,

573
01:27:04,320 --> 01:27:10,320
electronics, cars, and computers before anyone
else at Innovations. The Disney MGM Studios,

574
01:27:10,320 --> 01:27:16,640
now twice as big. Let the Twilight Zone Tower
of Terror drop you 13 frightening floors. Don't

575
01:27:16,640 --> 01:27:26,320
miss any of it. Call 407W Disney now. We're really
picky at JC Penney, so you can be really choosy.

576
01:27:26,960 --> 01:27:34,880
Look, we're doing it right. We picked styles for
the young and young at heart. Chosen names for

577
01:27:34,880 --> 01:27:40,480
people who are working hard or hardly working.
And selected styles for home bodies, somebody's

578
01:27:40,480 --> 01:27:50,960
or just about anybody. No matter what you
choose, our great values are everyone's choice.

579
01:27:50,960 --> 01:27:55,680
Burger King introduces one burger that eats
like two. The new mega double cheese. 1/3

580
01:27:55,680 --> 01:28:00,640
pound of flame broiled taste for the everyday
value of $1.99. At Burger King, we may not be

581
01:28:00,640 --> 01:28:07,840
the world's number one fast food place. It just
tastes that way. I got a problem. Poor baby. Yeah,

582
01:28:07,840 --> 01:28:13,440
watch. Well, I've got a solution. Country
Croc spreadable sticks. Yeah, they spread

583
01:28:13,440 --> 01:28:18,800
easy straight from the fridge. Very spreadable.
Very edible. New Country Croc spreadable sticks.

584
01:28:18,800 --> 01:28:27,760
Spread easy straight from the fridge. Twilight
Zone. Rod Serling's Lost Classics will continue

585
01:28:27,760 --> 01:28:34,000
Monday. Oh my god. It's the Mammoth season finale.
Imagine with an escaped madman on loose. He tried

586
01:28:34,000 --> 01:28:39,840
to kill you and a man killer on the prowl. It's a
joke, right? See the man hunt of the century. He's

587
01:28:39,840 --> 01:28:45,280
in there. Northern Exposure. I got to get back to
the store. Maurice. Hey, we're on a man hunt here.

588
01:28:45,280 --> 01:28:51,920
Inventory today, Maurice. Monday. A snowmobile
accident leaves a young girl under freezing water.

589
01:28:51,920 --> 01:29:03,120
I couldn't get her head above water. Can a little
girl find help in time? 911. Tuesday. This is CBS.

590
01:29:03,120 --> 01:29:09,920
Ford Probe GT has been called the most cost
effective rocket coupe. The best value in

591
01:29:09,920 --> 01:29:18,560
the hot sports coupe class and the affordable
master of multi-functional fun. Ford Pro GT,

592
01:29:18,560 --> 01:29:25,280
the most award-winning sports coupe in its class,
is now even more affordable with 2.9% APR or

593
01:29:25,280 --> 01:29:42,000
special low lease terms. Ford Probe, an affordable
front-wheel drive sports coupe. What a concept.

594
01:30:02,320 --> 01:30:11,360
Child watch. It's about our children, our future.
We make it easy for men to die, Mr. Weeden.

595
01:30:12,160 --> 01:30:18,560
Are you telling me you found a way to
make it easier to live? That's the vision,

596
01:30:18,560 --> 01:30:28,800
Dr. Ramsay. The shining vision. A new race
of beautiful mortals. But but I give you now,

597
01:30:28,800 --> 01:30:35,200
doctor, the irony of it all. The dream
is flawed. The chemical wears off. It

598
01:30:35,200 --> 01:30:40,800
has to be reintroduced. Sometimes every 6 months,
sometimes every month, sometimes every few days.

599
01:30:41,520 --> 01:30:51,120
It varies with the person. I was never able to
understand what caused the specific variables.

600
01:30:51,120 --> 01:31:03,360
And I was also unable to understand after
the most complex thing of all, human nature.

601
01:31:03,360 --> 01:31:14,400
The instinct of men to clutch, claw, rip, and tear
and kill, to stay out of the grave. If once he's

602
01:31:14,400 --> 01:31:24,000
been given a reprieve from it, the evolution
of men's desire as doctor, first just to live,

603
01:31:24,000 --> 01:31:34,240
then to live long, and then desperation to
live forever. translated into acts of murder,

604
01:31:34,240 --> 01:31:41,600
dozens of them, dear friend Perkins and all the
others. The dream doesn't have to die with you,

605
01:31:41,600 --> 01:31:46,800
Mr. Weaten. I could experiment further. I
could discover what makes the chemical lose

606
01:31:46,800 --> 01:31:57,440
its potency. No, no, don't. No, no. They have
no ears for that, doctor. Or brains or hearts.

607
01:31:57,440 --> 01:32:00,240
What kind of people are they?

608
01:32:07,520 --> 01:32:17,520
You're looking at what kind of people they are.

609
01:32:17,520 --> 01:32:21,440
I I

610
01:32:21,440 --> 01:32:26,800
didn't stumble on those railroad
tracks, doctor. I wasn't cut in

611
01:32:26,800 --> 01:32:39,360
half because of an unfortunate accident. I
I was turned into a torso so that the legs

612
01:32:39,360 --> 01:32:41,920
could not carry the mind out of the area in that

613
01:32:41,920 --> 01:32:50,640
mind doctor as you perceive
is the chemical equation

614
01:32:50,640 --> 01:32:56,400
for continual survival.

615
01:32:56,400 --> 01:33:00,240
And because of it,

616
01:33:00,240 --> 01:33:06,240
they allow you to stay alive.

617
01:33:06,240 --> 01:33:10,800
They are not people, doctor.

618
01:33:10,800 --> 01:33:19,200
They're corpses.

619
01:33:22,480 --> 01:33:28,080
I've been injecting them with water
for the last month and a half. The

620
01:33:28,080 --> 01:33:35,520
beautiful people will shortly
turn into what they should be.

621
01:33:35,520 --> 01:33:38,720
It's imperative,

622
01:33:38,720 --> 01:33:46,320
imperative, my dear doctor, that you're
not on the island when they realize it.

623
01:33:46,320 --> 01:33:55,440
The psychology of the mob, the
pality of the jungle animal.

624
01:33:55,440 --> 01:34:08,960
And there you have Shadow
Island from this moment on.

625
01:34:08,960 --> 01:34:17,040
We'll talk again when I awake.
differently awake. It seems a

626
01:34:17,040 --> 01:34:23,840
matter of some indifference to me at the moment.

627
01:34:23,840 --> 01:34:34,240
The odd thing, doctor, the really incomprehensible
thing, the years I spent with the remaining half

628
01:34:34,240 --> 01:34:50,720
of me in the wheelchair, believing that that
was an acceptable alternative to the casket.

629
01:34:58,720 --> 01:35:02,800
It seems to me

630
01:35:02,800 --> 01:35:19,920
most strange that men should fear the admit
death and necessary will come when it will come.

631
01:35:19,920 --> 01:35:25,200
And there's a strange

632
01:35:25,200 --> 01:35:44,240
a strange sweetness to it.

633
01:36:10,000 --> 01:36:13,680
He's dying, isn't he?

634
01:36:16,560 --> 01:36:25,840
But he's asleep now.

635
01:36:25,840 --> 01:36:31,280
He told you everything.

636
01:36:31,280 --> 01:36:40,240
I presume everything. Your uncle didn't keep
any diary and journal notes of any kind. He

637
01:36:40,240 --> 01:36:49,200
wouldn't have dared. His only guarantee of
survival was that he alone knew the secret.

638
01:36:49,200 --> 01:36:55,120
What's your guarantee of survival?

639
01:36:55,120 --> 01:37:01,200
Best we worry about yours.

640
01:37:01,200 --> 01:37:06,080
My uncle probably told you we've been
using water instead of the solution.

641
01:37:06,080 --> 01:37:11,760
What about yesterday morning? I saw the man
in this room. We used what was left of the

642
01:37:11,760 --> 01:37:24,800
original formula. We had to. If he hadn't
been brought back, the others would know.

643
01:37:24,800 --> 01:37:29,440
Who will believe me? Miss Weeden.

644
01:37:29,440 --> 01:37:39,520
Will anyone? Is it important?

645
01:37:39,520 --> 01:37:44,400
I'll tell you what's important.

646
01:37:44,400 --> 01:37:54,640
The whole of mankind died tonight in a bedroom

647
01:37:54,640 --> 01:38:03,040
on a stinking little island that should
have been the center of the universe.

648
01:38:03,040 --> 01:38:08,000
If the world knew what was being buried here,

649
01:38:08,000 --> 01:38:18,240
there would be a billion mourers
and they would weep up a tidal wave.

650
01:38:18,240 --> 01:38:28,800
What about you, Susan? What are you going to do?

651
01:38:28,800 --> 01:38:31,120
You can't stay here.

652
01:38:33,600 --> 01:38:54,400
Susan, your uncle and threequarters of this
island would be dead by tomorrow night.

653
01:38:54,400 --> 01:39:01,600
You recognize me? You're Mr. Bainbridge. My sister
didn't recognize me. bounced at the door and he

654
01:39:01,600 --> 01:39:09,040
screamed to lock me out. Something's happening.
Why does he wait? Mr. Weightman is too ill to

655
01:39:09,040 --> 01:39:17,040
see anyone. And you must give me the injection.
I can't, Mr. Bainbridge. There's nothing left.

656
01:39:17,040 --> 01:39:28,880
Make some more. Have We make some more. Mr.
Wheaten's dying. Nobody dies. Nobody dies.

657
01:39:32,960 --> 01:39:46,240
Everybody die. Helpbody die.

658
01:39:46,240 --> 01:39:56,240
Wait. You're feeling unwell, Mr. Bbridge.

659
01:39:58,640 --> 01:40:10,880
Look at me. Please look at me. I see you,
Mr. Bainbridge. I see you. Help me. Help me.

660
01:40:10,880 --> 01:40:20,000
Old friend, you died. 11 years ago. That's
an extensive period of time to settle your

661
01:40:20,000 --> 01:40:47,680
affairs. We don't want to die. Do you understand?
I don't want to die. Look in the mirror, old fool.

662
01:40:47,680 --> 01:41:00,640
Heat.

663
01:41:00,640 --> 01:41:09,040
Heat.

664
01:41:14,560 --> 01:41:20,400
For the aches and pains and sore shoulders
of life, I keep Tylenol around. Have forever.

665
01:41:20,400 --> 01:41:26,240
But headaches are different. Headaches, I use
Eedin. Because Eedin relieves headaches better

666
01:41:26,240 --> 01:41:33,840
than Tylenol. How do I know? They have reports and
medical research to prove it. But you know what?

667
01:41:33,840 --> 01:41:42,320
I really don't care about all that. I use it.
That's how I know it's better. I use it. Eedin,

668
01:41:42,320 --> 01:41:51,040
the headache medicine. What would you do for a
Klondike bar? Would you act like your dog? Him?

669
01:41:51,040 --> 01:41:57,840
No. No. Thanks. For rich creamy Klondike ice
cream. Well, maybe a pant covered with a rich

670
01:41:57,840 --> 01:42:05,600
chocolatey coating. No bark, no bite. Now speak
doggy. That chocolatey coated ice cream. Loaded

671
01:42:05,600 --> 01:42:12,400
big and thick. No room for a stick. What would you
do for a Klondike bar? Now, can your dog act like

672
01:42:12,400 --> 01:42:21,200
you? Perfect. Your coat. It gets harder to keep
an eye on your family every day. But at night,

673
01:42:21,200 --> 01:42:26,240
you can give them the support they need on a
Celely Postropedic. Unlike other premium coils,

674
01:42:26,240 --> 01:42:32,400
Cel's patented sense and respond coils give easily
at first for comfort. Then, as weight increases,

675
01:42:32,400 --> 01:42:38,320
respond with increasing support. Correct support
in the foundation. Only Celely has these patented

676
01:42:38,320 --> 01:42:43,280
steel beams, not wood. Now, won't you sleep
better knowing they're getting postropedic

677
01:42:43,280 --> 01:42:50,480
support? Only from Celique. My Lender Bagels.
You know, I start my day every day with a toasted

678
01:42:50,480 --> 01:42:56,640
Lender Bagel. This is what I was craving. And
imagine only 2 g of fat. Nothing like a Lender

679
01:42:56,640 --> 01:43:02,480
Bagel. Lender Bagels. First you crave, then
you rave. The critics are unanimous. They're

680
01:43:02,480 --> 01:43:09,840
calling The Crow the best movie of its kind since
Batman. Four stars. Brandon Lee is sensational,

681
01:43:09,840 --> 01:43:23,920
dazzling, and fiercely hypnotic. Brandon
Lee: The Crow, rated R. Now playing.

682
01:43:23,920 --> 01:43:28,320
Excuse me. Is that Ace sevenstar Satin
paint that you're holding? Why yes. Yes,

683
01:43:28,320 --> 01:43:33,120
it is A7Sar Satin. During Ace Paint Days,
this durable one coat coverage paint is

684
01:43:33,120 --> 01:43:38,080
on sale for just $13.99 a gallon. And because
Ace makes it, your satisfaction's guaranteed,

685
01:43:38,080 --> 01:43:46,320
but you got to hurry. Ace Paint Days end soon.
Need a lift? Nah, I'm waiting for a bus. Tonight,

686
01:43:46,320 --> 01:43:51,120
Barbara Walters. Plus, it's pretty good. I'm
not going to lie to you. Mariah Karen. Tonight,

687
01:43:51,120 --> 01:43:56,640
I dazzle America with fascinating
anecdotes about banana bread. Saturday,

688
01:43:56,640 --> 01:44:01,840
selling babies is big business. Back off. as soon
as I get the truth. And Chuck Norris is making

689
01:44:01,840 --> 01:44:09,360
them pay. Walker Texas Rangers Saturday. It's the
reunion you've been waiting for. Oh no. Join Vic,

690
01:44:09,360 --> 01:44:13,680
Mary, Mory, Rosemary, and Carl. Oh, is that
the comedy spot? No, Bubblehead. This isn't

691
01:44:13,680 --> 01:44:19,280
a comedy spot. As they celebrate their most
hilarious moments. Ouch. I think she meant

692
01:44:19,280 --> 01:44:28,240
this for you. Comedy that made TV history. Shut
up, Mel. Dick Van Dyke Show remembered Monday.

693
01:44:31,920 --> 01:44:36,560
Susan,

694
01:44:36,560 --> 01:44:44,400
my dear Susan,

695
01:44:44,400 --> 01:44:51,520
I wasn't wrong, was I? All they cared about

696
01:44:51,520 --> 01:44:56,720
was staying alive, not living.

697
01:45:02,560 --> 01:45:09,360
All I leave behind is secretary.

698
01:45:09,360 --> 01:45:23,360
What a miserable legacy for
you. An old house on a dead

699
01:45:23,360 --> 01:45:25,040
island.

700
01:45:37,840 --> 01:45:48,400
He's gone.

701
01:45:58,640 --> 01:46:09,600
Open the window.

702
01:46:26,720 --> 01:46:30,240
You

703
01:46:30,240 --> 01:46:35,760
you find a girl.

704
01:46:44,000 --> 01:47:04,720
He's dead.

705
01:47:04,720 --> 01:47:25,840
Another

706
01:47:25,840 --> 01:47:30,640
heat.

707
01:47:41,920 --> 01:47:45,840
Wait,

708
01:47:45,840 --> 01:47:54,000
he's dead. Susan, come.

709
01:47:54,000 --> 01:47:57,440
Oh my god.

710
01:48:08,400 --> 01:48:17,840
Heat. Heat.

711
01:48:43,360 --> 01:48:46,720
Hurry, hurry.

712
01:48:53,920 --> 01:49:06,960
Ramsey. No.

713
01:49:16,320 --> 01:49:24,960
that Dr.

714
01:49:24,960 --> 01:49:33,840
You're going to be just fine,
doctor. Everything is all right.

715
01:49:33,840 --> 01:49:44,000
We found you on the beach. We all
assumed that you had been to the island.

716
01:49:44,000 --> 01:49:52,800
Where's the girl? Susan Wheaton.

717
01:49:52,800 --> 01:50:05,200
Is that the girl?

718
01:50:11,520 --> 01:50:22,960
Heat.

719
01:50:22,960 --> 01:50:28,960
Heat.

720
01:50:40,720 --> 01:50:44,160
Heat

721
01:50:44,160 --> 01:50:51,120
up

722
01:50:51,120 --> 01:50:54,960
here.

723
01:51:01,680 --> 01:51:10,400
Dear Dr. Ramsay, as you probably know by now,

724
01:51:10,400 --> 01:51:19,040
I was one of them. At age
8, I died of scarlet fever.

725
01:51:19,040 --> 01:51:30,160
And at age 23, I shall have died
again along with all the others.

726
01:51:30,160 --> 01:51:37,520
Dear Dr. Ramsay,

727
01:51:37,520 --> 01:51:43,760
I think that God meant that men should die
when they should die. To live beyond death

728
01:51:43,760 --> 01:51:58,800
is like occupying someone else's room. You
do so without comfort and without serenity.

729
01:51:58,800 --> 01:52:03,920
Have a good life, doctor.

730
01:52:05,840 --> 01:52:09,520
A long life

731
01:52:09,520 --> 01:52:16,640
and one full of love.

732
01:52:16,640 --> 01:52:20,880
And when death comes,

733
01:52:20,880 --> 01:52:29,520
think of it as going to sleep
after a long and trying day.

734
01:52:29,520 --> 01:52:32,880
This is how I accept it.

735
01:52:34,800 --> 01:52:45,840
because it's been a long and trying day.

736
01:52:45,840 --> 01:53:00,160
Susan

737
01:53:04,720 --> 01:53:10,480
Doctor Dr. Ramsay,

738
01:53:10,480 --> 01:53:16,480
I was wondering if you'll be
having dinner with us tonight.

739
01:53:16,480 --> 01:53:21,360
Dinner,

740
01:53:21,360 --> 01:53:27,360
of course. Dinner.

741
01:53:27,360 --> 01:53:37,040
then breakfast and then lunch and then dinner
again and then a lifetime of all three.

742
01:53:37,040 --> 01:53:42,960
In between, I'll save lives like
I've always done, my dear Morin,

743
01:53:42,960 --> 01:53:54,480
until such time as I have to exchange
this surgeon smock for a shroud.

744
01:53:54,480 --> 01:54:01,440
Say some future scholar or some hopeful idiot
like myself should come along and ask you what

745
01:54:01,440 --> 01:54:10,240
went on on Shadow Island. What would you
tell them? Tell them? Why? What's to tell,

746
01:54:10,240 --> 01:54:22,000
doctor? Nothing went on that I know of.
Nothing at all. You're quite right. Nothing.

747
01:54:26,080 --> 01:54:35,200
Nothing at all.

748
01:54:35,200 --> 01:54:39,760
Quotation from the Bible, the book of
Ecclesiastes. To everything there is

749
01:54:39,760 --> 01:54:44,880
a season and a time for every purpose
under heaven. A time to be born and a

750
01:54:44,880 --> 01:54:50,480
time to die. To which Dr. Ramsay might
add, "And death will come despite the

751
01:54:50,480 --> 01:55:07,920
misguided efforts of men to delay or
prevent it, even in the Twilight Zone.

752
01:55:07,920 --> 01:55:15,520
I just got this new job. I like it. I I'm
making more money, so I have to dress nicer."

753
01:55:15,520 --> 01:55:20,720
You see, I have two goals. One is to not spend
all the extra money on clothes for this job. So,

754
01:55:20,720 --> 01:55:25,520
everything I have on, I got at Kmart. I
like it. It's fine. And my second goal

755
01:55:25,520 --> 01:55:39,520
is to not have this job for very long.
Huh? To have his place great or what?

756
01:55:39,520 --> 01:55:46,880
Look, some son I have ringing me in the we hours
from America. He saves money. I lose sleep. Avoid

new movie. Eye to eye with Connie Chung. Next.

772
01:57:53,600 --> 01:58:01,520
Heat. Heat.

773
01:58:01,520 --> 01:58:13,680
Heat.

774
01:58:13,680 --> 01:58:22,480
Heat.

775
01:58:33,120 --> 01:58:38,640
Was it fear that made them kill? Disgusting.
Or was it simply greed? They wanted to commit

776
01:58:38,640 --> 01:58:42,720
the perfect crime. Coming to CBS,
a powerful miniseries that exposes

777
01:58:42,720 --> 01:58:48,560
the unknown story behind the crime of the
decade. We have to kill him. Edward James

778
01:58:48,560 --> 01:58:53,280
Almost. Beverly D'Angelo. You betrayed me.
Their parents were about to kill them. The

779
01:58:53,280 --> 01:58:57,120
story you know so well is a story you
don't know at all. The only way you go

780
01:58:57,120 --> 01:59:10,240
to jail is if you're dumber than the cops.
Mendes are killed in Beverly Hills Sunday.

They're exotic. They're talented. They're
hot. Join music sensation Bryson at the

Miss Universe pageant live Friday. Monday. Has
Tony Bennett fallen for Freda? Don't say woman

783
01:59:25,280 --> 01:59:30,400
has suffered enough. Or is he a two timing
Tony? All new Evening Shade. Then surprise.

784
01:59:30,400 --> 01:59:36,480
Good advice just got better. Guess which one is
older. Okay, you Terry Gar and Shel V. So far so

785
01:59:36,480 --> 01:59:43,840
good. Good advice after Evening Shade Monday.
This is CBS. You could say it's because it's

786
01:59:43,840 --> 01:59:48,800
the only charcoal grill that starts with the push
of a button, or because its stainless steel work

787
01:59:48,800 --> 01:59:54,560
surface opens to a charcoal storage bin, but the
flip-up cooking grate gives easier access to the

788
01:59:54,560 --> 02:00:00,720
char baskets below. Although the simple stroke
of a lever clears the ashes in a single sweep,

789
02:00:00,720 --> 02:00:05,360
the Weber Performer Grill. Of all the
great features that have been put into it,

790
02:00:05,360 --> 02:00:11,680
perhaps the best feature is what you get out
of it. If it's Weber, it's great outdoors.
